Anna Gilchrist - Author and Advocate

I am an American author born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia. I am available for workshops and speaking events and to discuss my advocacy work at schools, libraries, bookstores, book festivals, and other literary events.
My joy of writing began at the tender age of 10 when I wrote her first chapter book as part of a school project. Decades later, I learned about global advocacy for children's rights, as listed in the human rights treaty known as the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), while completing my graduate studies at Swansea University.
From there, I began my advocacy for children's rights by writing and illustrating my first children's book, The Extraordinary Day of Daffodil Grey, about a Black American girl,

named Daffodil who helps a friend confront a bully on the playground. The book, published in 2017, received rave reviews and helped launch the Daffi and Friends book series.
Since then, my mission remains the same: to empower our most vulnerable individuals through engaging storytelling, meaningful connection, and to share my expertise with others to make a lasting impact in young lives.
I currently live in New Jersey, where I continue to create new books, support families needing childcare, perform as a voice actor, and enjoy singing and songwriting as a member of the soul-stirring Resistance Revival Chorus.
